Tri smrtky sa plavia / Three Deaths are Sailing

SLOVAKIA

BOOK

When Karola was eight, she found herself in a new family, adopted. Like this, she has a stepbrother, a mother, a father, and a grandfather. Brother Oskar is an astral traveler, father Jan resembles Gandhi, and some strange neoliberal people live in the neighborhood. The book immediately draws you into the action; at some point, the pace slows down so that you can think about what is hidden behind the magnificent house facades and what is behind the rusty fences. Karola suffered painful experiences in her first family, but she seemed to have come to terms with them. Well, has she really? She is thirty-three and follows the instincts we all have. After tragedies that do not seem to affect her, she undergoes a catharsis. But this cleansing cannot be done without sacrifices.
